Our Frail Care Centre consists of 4×4 bedrooms, 6×2 bedrooms, 4 single rooms and an Emergency Room. All the bedrooms promote safety, interaction and companionship.
In addition to the frail care service, the nursing staff at Deutsches Altersheim provide a general 24-hour medical support care service to the Assisted Living Residents. This service includes a free blood pressure clinic once a week, routine medical care and daily room visits by the sister or nursing staff.
More importantly though, each resident in Deutsches Altersheim has the comfort of knowing that they have immediate access to the medical support system through the use of a panic button in the case of a medical emergency. The panic button should be kept close by the residents and should be available to him/her at all times.
Nursing care at Deutsches Altersheim is split into three categories:
Frail Care
A 24/7 nursing care service is rendered in the Frail Care Section of the Deutsches Altersheim Pretoria which includes:
- Accommodation for frail and demented residents
- 3 meals per day
- Teas/coffees and refreshments
- Recreational activities
- Weekly occupational therapy and art therapy sessions
At an additional fee the following is available:
- Physiotherapy
- 6 Weekly hair-cut by hairdresser
- 6 Weekly toe-nail cutting by podiatrist
- Incontinence wear (nappies) at wholesale prices
Assisted Living
The following service is rendered to assisted living residents at Deutsches Altersheim:
- Accommodation in single rooms with shower and balcony for semi-independent residents
- 3 meals per day
- 2 teas/coffees and refreshments
- Weekly laundry service
- Weekly room Cleaning
- 24-hour emergency response by nursing staff when panic button is pressed
- Establishing a profile of each home resident and accessing their support structures in case of an emergency
- Blood pressure clinic once per week
- Diabetic tests on demand
- Administering medicine and chronic medicine
- Access to medical practitioners.
- Walk-in assistance at the Frail Care Centre.
Independent Living
Services available to the Independent Living residents at Deutsches Altersheim include:
- Free access to a fully equipped gym with indoor heated pool
- Laundry with 2 washing machines and 3 dryers
- Bus service to Brooklyn Mall or Spar twice a week
- Bus service to Alma Butchery once a month
- In-house hairdresser
- 24-hour medical emergency response and stabilization for panic button situations
- Establishing a profile of each home resident and accessing their support structures in case of an emergency
- Blood pressure clinic once per week
- Diabetic tests on demand
- Access to a medical practitioner when needed
- Walk-in assistance at the Frail Care Centre
Senior Day-care Services at the Deutsches Altersheim Pretoria
Our main focus is to provide a high quality, holistic care service for the elderly in a loving, caring and friendly environment which is adapted to the special needs of every person.
We would like to give caregivers at home a much-needed break in which to work, go shopping, attend to personal needs or simply to rest and relax.
We provide your elderly parent or spouse an opportunity to get out of the house and still receive the care they need in a social stimulating environment.
Senior Day-care provides a safe and secure environment.
We offer 3 nutritious meals as well as refreshments and 2 snacks. We accommodate special diets.
Services and activities are planned according to the abilities and health condition of the elderly and may include medication dispensing, blood pressure monitoring, toilet hygiene, musical entertainment, art and crafts, games and gentle exercises.
Our day-care service will operate between 7h00 and 18h00, although special services for nights may be arranged according to availability of beds.
